Great Wealth and Great Political Power

Justice Louis D. Brandeis said, “We can have democracy in this country, or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we can't have both.”  Which of these poles is America nearest now?  The 400 wealthiest Americans have more wealth than the bottom 60 percent of Americans combined.  This week, Obama addressed a room full of 450 super donors who will each raise at least $350,000 for his reelection, for a total of over $157 million.
